Originally a grand Art Deco “boutique hotel”, this spacious family holiday retreat home needed a functional makeover and upgrade. A perfect example of where modernity and memory coexist in perfect harmony.

The first part of our design process was to reserve and upgrade as many original details as possible. Its important to us to preserve memories from the past, whilst also embracing the needs of contemporary living, through the art of curated living.

We also focused on creating social spaces to host large gatherings, while maintaining secluded relaxation areas for quiet reflection time. The property needed to cater to the needs of weekend visitors.

The next step was to reconfigure layout by creating different types of living areas. We decided very early to unify the kitchen and dining area making on open plan living space with a clear view on the ocean. Previously the kitchen was hidden at the back by a dividing wall. We defined each living space by functionality.
